For some reason, I end up updating Golf Over Africa some time ending December, so here goes a big update with lots of important changes. You can play online, for free, at itch.io!

The first big change affects scoring: now, instead of just having to control 10 territories, you have to score 7000 points with each territory granting a different amount of points based on how much wealth you can extract from it; it makes gameplay much more strategic and fun.
Talking about resource extraction, I finally added some short historical blurbs on the events that happened to the African territories as a result of being invaded by the European powers. They are short but hopefully informative enough.

There were also some small but important changes in the user experience, the most notable one being the new, upbeat music track, which better matches the energy of golfing over the control of a continent with your friends. For now I’m using an openly available music track, but may replace it in the future with a track in similar spirit made by QuietGecko.
Also, the “cards” game, which was super confusing and lame, was removed in favor of just resolving the conflicts internally using the military stats of the participants; balance was also changed a little bit to avoid favoring too much powers with high Military stats (such as the German Empire).
I also changed the font used to be more modern and sportsy, and updated the portrait of Bismarck (which, alongside with a new logo for the game, was stuck unreleased since December 31 2020!)
That’s it for now, let me know what you think about it, have fun with your friends and maybe learn a bit of history!
