Bill’s Forest – Day 6

As I continue adding content into the game, I figure out it will be better to make these post remain private, to avoid spoiling the game.

Fix some discoveries not appearing in 2x zoom in mobile due to them avoiding collisions with the invisible roads, similarly there was a problem in mobile with 2 columns missing from the screen, due to an issue with minimum width calculation.

Reduced footsteps sound volume to 20%

Add caves screens! these have a similar layout to forest but feature rocky floor and blocks of rock as walls instead of trees; this meant I had to introduce logic to render a kind of classic JRPG perspective where the front of the wall can be seen, and the top is shown in a dark shade, with proper blending for both sides; it also required a cleanup pass to remove single block walls which were incompatible.

I also made it so that ambient light inside caves is perpetually dark (similar to night time but gray instead of blue), unaffected by time of day or seasons.

Add weird tortoise-like slow creatures inhabiting the caves instead of rabbits. they ignore the player.

Added a cheat console with commands to test the new environments and unique findings.

Made a structure for “unique findings”, stuff that only appear once, rewarding exploration. Won’t mention them here to avoid spoilers .

Fixed an issue when changing zoom, relocating the player at the last entrance he was on, to prevent placing him into trapped locations.
