Last year I flew to Montreal to MIGS 2024; I was mostly pitching the Hadria Project (of which I haven’t spoken much here, but soon will)

I made some good contacts for the game, but Q4 2024 and Q1 2025 have forced me into different directions so I haven’t been able to activate the Hadria protocol so far. As always, you will be the first to know details about it, if it ever comes to be.
For now, here are some cool pics I took on the trip.
October 27 – Flying Medellín to Montreal

October 28 – Verdun, Montreal
I kept two buffer days before the event, to go around town a bit.
I was staying at an airbnb in Pointe-Saint Charles. First day I didn’t want to move around a lot, so I just looked over Google Maps for landmarks around the area, which was mostly residential so not a lot of stuff around.
I walked some minutes to Verdun Beach, which was of course pretty empty during these cold autumn days.

The cool landmark I was looking for was called “Les Roches”. I got there, but there wasn’t much? I looked online a bit and didn’t found any info about it either. I left the place, very puzzled about life.

Since there was a prospect of moving to Canada for work, I wanted to see a little bit more of “domestic” life away from downtown. So yeah, I just ended up walking a lot and enjoying the scenery.

October 29 – Visiting the Kitfoxes

The big hit for the day was visiting Kitfox Games offices, so I went to the Ville-Marie area which is closer to downtown Montreal.

Visit to Kitfox went great, it was nice to finally have a chance to talk with Tanya and get to see the offices and some of their work. We had lunch and talked about indiegames, gamedev business and stuff.
I spent most of the evening that day… working. At least it was on a procedural content generator for some friends’ project. It could have been worse! 😀

Later that day I went to MIGS opening party, which was useful to get an idea of the location, and meeting some developers from Colombia (our visit was partially sponsored by ProColombia, a government organization. They got us VIP tickets!).

October 30 – Let the event commence
The event kicked off strong with some good meetings to extend my network and obtain advise for the project.

After an eventful day full of meetings, I met with Paul “El Diablo” Mackie, Teravision Games’ CFO. We went around old Montreal.

I even wound up in another party, a VIP party set up by Jason Della Rocca.

October 31 – MIGS continues
More meeetiiings!! very productive!

The event was over! Time to continue walking around and discovering stuff. This time I was on my own so I just moved around a bit on the surrounding area.

Went back to Point-Saint Charles to see a bit of local halloween

November 1 – Touring around

Gilles Villeneuve Circuit

Casino de Montreal

November 2 – Nerding out

Evening walk into Mount Royal
It was running late already, but it was my last night and I wanted a little bit of adventure, I saw the cross of Mount Royal from the distance, and decided I had to be there.
After walking in spooky cold roads for a bit I got there.

November 3, Flying back
