Senatus: DIES LXXXIII

We finally got approval from Steam to do the launch tomorrow! meaning I’m now good to submit new builds as needed. So the first thing I did was to push the latest changes so that the team could test them.

Then I remembered we still had the names and descriptions for the last batch of locations pending translation. Luckily there weren’t many…. I also translated the Credits (luckily, there weren’t many).

The only item I had pending was fixing the paths in the Rome map to avoid some weird looking “nooks”, when you had to walk through a node to go to another one; I took the chance to also simplify some paths to avoid clutter.

Also on the Rome map, I gave a first pass to adding more “life” to it, using the inhabitant animations created by Agua… it’s a bit risky to add them for the release, but will probably be a first week update. For now it’s just a static concept.

Finally, there was a small UI tweak requested by Agua on the display of the time of the day – nothing exciting to report there.

I also updated the background of the debate scene, the Curia, with his latest revision which added more details.

Then, as I was making the Mac build, I noticed a discrepancy in the dynamic calculation of the “doors” animation were are using to transition between scenes; of course all due to the retina display and their discrepancies between physical and logical pixels. I ended up changing quite a bit of it to make it work independent of that (using anchors instead of explicit measures), but I decided to only release the change on Mac to prevent possible issues on Windows during launch.

And well, that’s it for today… launch day is tomorrow!
