Some important changes in the Miku calling/warping logic, first one was simplifying the logic so that instead of determining the teleport location by casting a ray from (about) the middle of the screen and intersecting with the ground, I’m now just spawning Miku some units in front of the player in the direction the camera is looking, making it much more predictable.
In addition, this allowed something unexpected; while doing some planning for the official submission, I noticed the form asked what kind of controls the game supported, and it included the option of using the phone accelerometer. So I thought, why not add an option to shake your phone to call Miku? like, you could consider you are hailing her, NOTICE ME – MIKU.
Anyways, I think it’s a good addition, and we get to check that additional box and bring a little bit of innovative (?) controls 🙂

I also removed the placeholder logo and title screen, and replaced it with a screenshot from the scene (for now) and a very simple チェキチャンス logo. The screenshot maybe we’ll replace it with an actual quality render by alcaraz, the logo… I don’t know! In any case it feels good to get rid of those placeholder art.
Alcaraz is got a busy week, but he’s gonna try to give the final touches to the environment and maybe work in the model for the car.
As I continued testing the game, I noticed we are really missing that audio feedback for the first screens – We need the beeps for the buttons but also hopefully a chill music for the menus. I called forth friend quietgecko but he seems to be busy these days… I’m considering contacting dinti, another friend I have done jams with, I think he may enjoy the idea.

Talking about pinging lost people, I also tried to contact Sara Rios to see if maybe she has some ideas to improve the UI of the game- Not sure if it may be too late for this but there’s some hope.
Today I also watched a pretty cool documentary about Magical Mirai 2026 which even mentioned the Programming Contest… maybe out game will be there for next year’s documentary?
